About the Movie
A high school football coach finds himself fighting for stakes much higher than the State Championship in this drama based on actual events. In 1971, a court order forces three high schools in Alexandria, Virginia (two white, one African-American), to integrate their student bodies and faculties for the first time. As a result, Coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton), longtime head coach of the T.C. Williams High School football team, is asked to step down, and Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) is appointed to replace him as the school's first black faculty member. The new coach is hardly welcomed with open arms, either by the school's staff or the students, and the newly integrated team is full of players (both black and white) who have little trust or respect for one another. But Boone is determined to put a winning team on the field — it's how he approaches the game, and his future depends on it. Against long odds, Boone helps his team overcome distrust and misunderstanding of their coach (and each other) as they become a gridiron force to be reckoned with. Remember the Titans also features Nicole Ari Parker, Kate Bosworth, and Jerry Brandt, and was produced by action-film kingpin Jerry Bruckheimer.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Denzel Washington should have held out for a better script before he signed on to star in Remember the Titans.
Fresh: Aside from its message-waving, pic dedicates itself to entertaining the audience via its military-style whip-'em-into-shape training antics, the sort of thing that always goes down very easily.
Fresh: A totally absorbing movie.
Fresh: Washington and the others score in this predictable but rousing film where the big victory is over attitudes.
Not an ordinary football movie
Gasp, a movie concerning a football team where the most important and well-done scenes don't take place on a football field! This movie combines three things that one does not usually see together: Disney, Denzel Washington, and football. Fortunately enough, Mr. Yakin and crew pull it off... and they do it well. While the story is fairly simple, the movie's best aspect(s) are the characters. The acting is phenomenal; as the characters grow and mature over the course of the film, I couldn't help but feel proud of them, and not because they become a good football team. The issues are real: friendship, commitment, family, rascism, determination, and overcoming great adversity (both on and off the football field); the actions of the characters are real, and even the story the movie is based upon is real. Although it is tossed around a lot these days, the phrase "feel-good movie" definitely applies here. A superb, reflective and heart-warming story of many victories, and I'm not just talking about football games.
As a history teacher, this is one of my favorite films!!
I play this movie every year for my students to show them how important it is to except people for who they are. What Coach did for these kids was amazing at a time when race realations were so bad in this country. Great actors, storyline and football fun!! It is a classic film!! Download it, you won't be disappointed. You will feel good inside and maybe a little hopeful.
everything a movie should be.
