About the Movie
From PBS - Reportero follows a veteran reporter and his colleagues at Zeta, a Tijuana-based independent newsweekly, as they stubbornly ply their trade in one of the deadliest places in the world for members of the media. In Mexico, more than 50 journalists have been slain or have vanished since December 2006, when President Felipe Calderón came to power and launched a government offensive against the country's powerful drug cartels and organized crime. As the drug war intensifies and the risks to journalists become greater, will the free press be silenced? An Official Selection of the 2012 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. A co-production of Quiet Pictures, ITVS, and Latino Public Broadcasting with funding provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. A co-presentation with Latino Public Broadcasting.
Filmmaker Bernardo Ruiz has produced great documentaries. REPORTERO and KINGDOM OF SHADOWS highlight Mexico's dire situation it finds itself in. Both are "must see" and highly recommended!
Rarely do I feel the need to write a review on my purchases. This one I felt compelled to do so. This my own personal opinion we as viewers and or readers of such information . Which cost some to give all no matter the consequence. We have a obligation to request our government to do more to protect such individuals. Even in the face of certain death these people speak out for us the public . To me these truth telling information giving no matter the outcome are f****** BADASSES. Thank you a million times over.
