Set in present day Italy where art connoisseur, harpsichord aficionado, master of soufflés and genius of improvisational murder, Tom Ripley (Academy Award nominee John Malkovich -- "Burn After Reading," "In the Line of Fire") finds his complacency shaken when he is scorned at a local party. While any ordinary sociopath might repay the insult with some mild act of retribution, the game Ripley has in mind is far subtler, and infinitely more sinister, as he hires a man in need of money to commit murder.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: As slithery and seductive a thriller as you'll find.
Fresh: Malkovich's elegantly malicious performance gives Ripley's Game a magnetic center.
Fresh: The movie may, late in Cavani's career, come to be seen as her best work.
Fresh: Arguably the most satisfying distillation of Highsmith's nastiness, ingenuity and humor, with the added dividend of Mr. Malkovich's diabolical charm and insouciance.
John Malkovich IS Ripley
when i read the book, John is exactly how I imagined Tom Ripley, much better than Matt Damon!
