About the Movie

Set in the near future, Frank, a retired cat burglar, has two grown kids who are concerned he can no longer live alone. They are tempted to place him in a nursing home until Frank’s son chooses a different option: against the old man’s wishes, he buys Frank a walking, talking humanoid robot programmed to improve his physical and mental health. What follows is an often hilarious and heartwarming story about finding friends and family in the most unexpected places. Starring an ensemble cast led by Academy Award nominee Frank Lengella (2008, Best Actor, Frost/Nixon), Academy Award Winner Susan Sarandon (1995, Best Actress, Dead Man Walking), Liv Tyler and James Marsden.

Don't let the robot scare you

This is a story about friendship, family and a robot. It's a buddy caper at it's roots but stops to think every once in a while and never gets too preachy. Frank Langella is amazing with the robot, with snappy dialog they play the Felix/Oscar bit with a twist. With great supporting performances by Susan Sarandon and others, this a great family movie for grown ups.

Wonderful Movie!

I saw this in theatres when it came out and I loved it so much. It was like a small amount of thriller with the whole heist thing and then it had a whole lot of heart in the story not only involving him and the robots bond but everyone in the movie really. I'm not good at this, I just know that this movie was enjoyable and recommend it for anyone who just wants to watch a feel good movie.

Uber charming and realistic comedy

I can't believe the Academy completely ignored this film! It's strong Best Picture material and the acting (and Skaarsgard's voice) is top-notch. I was also impressed at how plausible the future looked; no chrome buildings and teleporters, but instead there's beat up prius's and video phones. Not to mention the Bradbury-esque idea of getting rid of books.

Highly recommend watching this film, it'll brighten up your day!
