Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The movie's observations of the wolf pack mentality of privileged teenage boys who view every conquest as proof of their prowess is casually devastating. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Dec 5, 2013

Rotten: S#x Acts works as a crash course in sexual ethics, but it also fails to transcend its genre trappings as a morality tale about the dangers of low self-esteem. – Inkoo Kang, Village Voice, Dec 3, 2013

Fresh: The movie unfolds in six acts, each one advancing the progressive degradation of a vulnerable girl seeking acceptance. – Ella Taylor, NPR, Dec 5, 2013

Fresh: Probably a lot of people who see this film will get fed up with Gili's passivity, but some people in life are passive in a way that feels like a defiantly inactive reaction to ill treatment. – Dan Callahan,, Dec 6, 2013

Complicated Aftertaste

It is one of those movies that I wish I hadn’t seen after watching it. The acting is solid. But the story line is sad and reflects a side of humanity that we are familiar to while highly unpleasant.

Perhaps that’s why comedy is often easily.
