Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It's a nasty, biased, self-serving movie that also happens to be hilarious most of the time. – Vincent Canby, New York Times, Feb 2, 2016

Fresh: Black comedy is a tough commodity to sustain and, after a broad start, Edwards quickly finds a deft balance that paints a cockeyed, self-contained world that comfortably supports its exaggerated characters. – Variety Staff, Variety, Feb 2, 2016

I love this movie!

This is very funny, black comedy (dark situational humor) with a phenomenal cast that presents a satirical comment on the self-absorbed, artificial world of Hollywood directors and stars. It has an all-star cast, including some truly first rate, over-the-top performances by Richard Mulligan Julie Andrews and Loretta Swit, to name but a few. One of my all time favorite movies.

Movie Buff

A very satirical, yet vibrantly colorful movie with a masterful all-star cast! This movie captivated me when I first watched it, many years ago and I can sufficiently say that it has truly maintained its luster over the years. A+ Rating in any movie aficionado's book!

One of my all time favs

I have loved this film since the first time I saw it 30 years ago. The comedy holds up to the test of time and never loses its edge. Also, for all the insane Blake Edwards type comedy that this film is known for, it also has a heart that it shows in the film's second half. Robert Preston, as Dr. Irving Finegarden, is one of the funniest movie characters I have ever had the pleasure to watch.
