About the Movie

Angelina Jolie stars in Columbia Pictures' Salt, a contemporary espionage thriller. Before becoming a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt (Jolie) swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. She will prove loyal to these when a defector accuses her of being a Russian sleeper spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture, protect her husband, and stay one step ahead of her colleagues at the CIA.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: In the great tradition of summer popcorn hits, Angelina Jolie's action-spy thriller Salt is stupid but fun. – Caryn James, Newsday, Feb 7, 2018

Fresh: What's most impressive about Salt (aside from Jolie's committed performance) is the film's relentless pace. I can't remember the last action film so devoted to being all action, all the time. Frankly, it's a little exhausting. – Simon Miraudo, Quickflix, Oct 21, 2014

Fresh: Daft, but entertaining enough while it lasts, and it's oddly fun to see that venerable villainess, the Cold War, showing the young upstarts how it's done. – Catherine Bray, Film4, Aug 26, 2010

Rotten: Can an action film have too much action? It sounds unlikely, like a cheese being too cheesy, but here's Salt to show us different. – David Sexton, London Evening Standard, Aug 26, 2010

Not the same movie

The original movie is better. The extended version doesn’t do justice to the movie, changing the ending as well as key parts that help define the Salt character. Waste of effort and waste of money. The basic version is better.

Fun and engaging

This is better than the theatrical version and the director's cut version

This movie has 3 different versions and I think this one is the best of all 3 because with the director's cut and the theatrical versions it was all the same ending with a couple distinct differences. But they both have you wonder whether or not there will be a sequel to this movie but this version pretty much sums up why there isn't gonna be one which makes it the best version of the 3.
