Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It is a disarmingly and consistently sensitive movie that remains engaging even when its reach sometimes exceeds its grasp. – Glenn Kenny, New York Times, Jan 11, 2018

Fresh: Constructive in the way it invites viewers to consider and discuss issues of intolerance and hypocrisy, even as it encourages those who don't fit the straight, marriage-oriented paradigm to embrace their own identities. – Peter Debruge, Variety, Apr 30, 2017

Fresh: Given its compact running time, the film proves a surprisingly rich experience, one that effectively balances hope and possibility with some of the harsher realities of disenfranchised LGBTQ youth. – Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times, Jan 11, 2018

Fresh: Cardasis brings a sensitive eye to the subject, painting a textured picture of Ulysses' solitude and his hunger for self-knowledge. – David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter, Apr 23, 2017

The best

It was just so so good. Please go see it!

A slice of reality...

...told simply. I

I have to say though, I loved seeing gay and transgender performers of color on screen in starring roles. They don't get the opportunity.

I simply wish the story aimed a little higher in the storytelling. It remained a little predictable. However, Kudos for wrapping that in a musical! That part was hella unique!
