About the Movie

Three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone brings to life this ferocious, Unrated Edition. Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Stone devotes considerable ingenuity to making atrocity appear as a terrifying kind of home movie, but "Savages" is no more than a summertime debauch. – David Denby, New Yorker, Jul 23, 2012

Rotten: These are neither good people nor interesting savages, and they're not worth caring about. Neither is the movie. – Rex Reed, New York Observer, Jul 12, 2012

Fresh: An unabashedly lurid sun-and-surf menage-a-trois cum drug-running caper, with touches of Jacobean tragedy for good measure. – Scott Foundas, Film Comment Magazine, Jun 20, 2013

Fresh: Veers way off course in its second act, becoming confusing and vague - indeed, stoned. But it all comes good in the end. – CJ Johnson, ABC Radio (Australia), Dec 4, 2012

Savage film

Savages is like an 'almond milk frappuccino' version of Tarantino's scorching classic Pulp Fiction. Even heroin couldn't keep me interested in this film.

The casting was initially exciting, then I realised I'd seen all these actors before, playing the same roles in better films. Save time, save money, hug your loved ones, go outside, help an elderly lady cross the street, do something worthwhile.

Stone spiralled down from the brilliant Born on the Fourth of July to making The Doors look as sexy as The Monkees in two years... and the decline continues with this! (Yes I'm ignoring Natural Born Killers & JFK which were very good). Over time Stone has gone from social conscience to believing in a global Jewish 'domination' of the media. (He recanted but this ain't forgotten as unlike Lars von Trier his tongue wasn't planted in his cheek). Where did it all go wrong?

it's good

I thought the film was great. The story line was intense and the acting was totally solid. It kept me on my seat and I've watched the film a few times now. Two thumbs up! Blake Lively is a mega babe.
