Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Idealized? You bet. That's why the loss of this world must be avenged with the same broad strokes that you'd expect from the Count of Monte Cristo.
Fresh: It is all legally preposterous. But Levinson is a slick craftsman, his actors are insinuatingly real, and cinematographer Michael Ballhaus casts a disarmingly believable light on these proceedings.
Fresh: Engrosses if it doesn't fully convince.
Rotten: The problems start with Levinson's script, which overemploys Patric's florid narration to tell you what you're about to see, what it means and how you should feel about it.
This IS a GREAT movie. Its soo Sad though. BUY IT
One of the best movies I have ever seen. Great plot, it's sad at parts but it's really good.
Not easy to watch, but well worth it.
fantastic storyline, great acting...the abuse scenes are tought to watch (a lot of the abuse is implied, but you know exactly what and who's involved). Other than that, a top-notch film.
