About the Movie

Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a generous and loyal pal to her engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson). But after celebrating her 30th birthday, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in the arms of Dex (Colin Egglesfield), the guy she’s had a crush on since law school…and who happens to be Darcy’s fiancé. In the frantic weeks leading up to Darcy’s wedding, Rachel finds herself caught between her long-time friendship with Darcy and the prospect of losing the love of her life. Based on Emily Giffin’s bestseller, this funny and touching romantic comedy also stars John Krasinski as Rachel’s constant confidante and conscience, who busily evades the affection of one of Darcy’s lovestruck friends while harboring a secret crush of his own.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The half-star rating goes to John Krasinski for heroically rising above this vile dung heap of a movie. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, May 6, 2011

Rotten: Bonds are tested and feelings hurt, but who really cares? The story takes predictable turns, embraces cliches and dodges all humor. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, May 5, 2011

Rotten: Krasinski is, once again, the best thing about a romantic comedy. – Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times, May 5, 2011

Rotten: The movie is merely a joke-stoked soap opera; its bare-bones plot leaves the characters unrealized and the situations undefined. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, May 9, 2011

Great movie.

I watched this movie in theaters when it first came out and I still find myself thinking about the movie. It's a really loving, touching and believable movie about missed opportunities. I think everyone should watch this movie at least once because trust me, after the first time, you're going to want to watch it again. The acting is great, the story line is fantastic and dialogue is funny and true. It's a must see.
