When soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of an experimental government program called the “Source Code” that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. Armed with the task of identifying the bomber of a Chicago commuter train, Colter must re-live the incident over and over again, gathering clues until he can solve the mystery and prevent an even deadlier second terrorist attack. Captivating from start to finish, Source Code is the mind-blowing action thriller Richard Roeper calls “Confounding, exhilarating, challenging--and the best movie I've seen so far in 2011.

Fresh: Holes in logic get swept aside by the brisk pace and stimulating tale.
Fresh: The movie is a formally disciplined piece of work, a triumph of movie syntax, made with a sense of rhythm and pace, and Gyllenhaal, who is always good at conveying anxiety, gives Stevens's desperation a comic edge.
Fresh: None of this makes any sense if you think about it, but the idea is so much fun that thinking about it may be your last impulse.
Fresh: Duncan Jones' swiftly paced and engaging sci-fi thriller is a Groundhog Day for a post- 9/11 world.
Heartfelt, Thrilling, just plain fun!
"Source Code", as illogical as it is plotwise, is still an original, nail-biting film.
The story starts with Jake Gyllenhal waking up in a train he never remembers boarding, in a body that he doesn't belong to him. He searches for anwsers only to find the train blowing up. He then wakes up in an unusual container were Vera Farmiga tells him that the U.S. government needs him to relive the last 8 minutes of a dead man's life over and over again until he finds the bomb that destroyed the train, and the person who placed it there. There are alot of details to the story, so I'll leave the rest for the viewer to discover.
The acting is actually much better than I first expected. Jake Gyllenhal, Michelle Monaghan, and Vera Farminda all give excellent performances, not Oscar excellent, but as high caliber as action movies go. They felt interesting, realistic, and even show some heart in their roles, a rare thing for action movies these days.
Viewers may also notice that "Source Code" shares some similarites with last year's "Inception". In "Inception", the characters had to go down to multiple levels, but in "Source Code", Jake Gyllenhal just repeats the same level over and over again for an hour-and-a-half. I thought that the idea would become boring pretty quickly, but they managed to make it different, yet equally exciting to the story every time.
So "Source Code" was one of those films were I walked in with low expectations, but the further the movie progressed, I was interested AND excited by what I was watching. While "Source Code" falls just short of being a classic, it's still one the best films of 2011 so far, and a first-rate action/thriller. Two thumbs up.

Its one of those you wait for a long time to come around...
What I mean is, you go and see many movies. You end up liking a lot of them or at least finding them really entertaining. But you always wait a long time to see a movie that will send you away with a million expressions of wow plastered on your face.
This is one of those movies.
Sure, if you think hard and deeply about the movie, a few aspects may not seem to fit together (mostly because they are science fiction elements) but at the same time, they make complete sense within the realm of the movie.
This movie was pure excitement. Deeply thrilling. Its also one of those where you and the character are in a situation that everyone else knows about... but are reluctant to fill you in on the details, other than what you need to know (for their benefit).
Wow, you just need to see this movie. It also has a great ending... a lot of movies end kind of weak, or with a cop-out, but this movie delivers what movie viewers often wait a good while to see.
Totally blew my mind. I was expecting an ok story line and a lack luster performance by the actors. Definitely 10 out of 10. Many twists and turns will keep u on the edge of if seat.
