About the Movie

Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the Next Generation crew engage in their most thrilling adventure yet. They call themselves the Borg - a half organic, half-machine collective with a sole purpose: to conquer and assimilate all races. Led by their seductive and sadistic queen (Alice Krige), the Borg are headed to Earth with a devious plan to alter history. Picard's last encounter with the Borg almost killed him. Now he wants vengeance.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: In zooming out from Picard's glinty eyeball, this eighth feature film from the Trek factory displays a zippy new energy and a sleek, confident style fully independent of its predecessors. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Aug 13, 2012

Fresh: First Contact is no grab bag of camp gewgaws; it stands proud and apart, accessible even to the Trek-deficient. This old Star, it seems, has a lot of life in it. – Richard Corliss, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: While First Contact espouses the usual lofty Trek ideals, it never forgets to factor in the fun. As the Borg likes to say, resistance is futile -- and also unnecessary. – USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: A smashingly exciting sci-fi adventure that ranks among the very best in the long-running Paramount franchise. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Prepare to be assimilated!

This is a fantastic Next Generation Star Trek movie. It is one of the first Star Trek movies that begin to show the darker side of technology, and how it can be used in evil, or at least unconventional ways. The story line is very comprehensive even if you have never watched a Star Trek before. If you tend to like good versus evil story lines than this is the movie for you.

First Review, but still good

I am very happy that Apple has finally added more studios to iTunes aside from Disney. I am also very happy to see all 10 of the Star Trek Movies on the iTS, mostly because it brings more sense of variaty to the Store. Buy this movie, its one of the best ones Star Trek did aside from Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. The effects are really nice in this movie and you get to see the new Enterprise-E, as well as more kick fighting borg.

Awesome inspirational and fun movie

When I first watched this movie as a kid, I dreamed of buying an abandoned missile silo to launch my own spaceship from. In this movie the crew from Star Trek the Next Generation go back in time to help people on Earth get the first warp drive working to fight the Borg. One of my favorite movies of all time.
