10 seasons and one spin-off later with two movies and another spin-off planned, any fan of either Stargate SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis MUST see this movie. Yes, Sam, Teal'c, and Hammond are noticably absent, and O'Neill is played by a humorless Kurt Russel, but Daniel Jackson is still the same. The movie lays the grounwork for the Goa'oul, Abydos, and the mission that drives both Daniel and Jack for another four seasons. The tv show has come far, progressing through enemies, advancing technology, and killing bad guys, but this movie is still a must see!

FYI: Edition Running Times

Love the movie, but iTunes has the normal edition only :( This is the normal edition running @ 2:00:57. The special edition runs at around 2hours and 8minutes. The director's cut runs at around 2hours and 10minutes.

This movie was the start of a wonderful thing

It was a a killer story with groundbreaking special effects for it's time. As a wanna be egyptologist, the movie was a great dip into egyptian mythos. Though I wasn't fond of the SG-1 series mostly because of the lame special effects in contrast to the film...a friend of mine talked it up to me about 6 seasons in....and i've been hooked ever since....all because of this awesome flick!!!! yay!
