Rotten: There are hints of satire beneath the goings-on, but if that was the intent, it's too veiled. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Nov 13, 2014

Fresh: Horror fans should keep their eyes on the filmmakers - and Essoe, who gives a star-making performance. – Clark Collis, Entertainment Weekly, Nov 21, 2014

Fresh: Though it's a tad overcranked in the final furlong, the sheer energy on display and a devilishly compelling plot ultimately win the day. – Richard Kuipers, Variety, Aug 18, 2014

Fresh: "Starry Eyes" may leave you feeling hopeless, but its bleak vision of masochistic perfectionism is clear-eyed, cogent, and devastatingly unsettling. – Simon Abrams, RogerEbert.com, Nov 14, 2014

I was not expecting this insanity….

I purposefully kept my knowledge of this film to a minimum before I started watching it. The movie started out simple enough; a girl caught in a dead end job with simpleton and passive aggressive friends hopes to one day become a famous actress. She goes on an audition, and this just get insanely creepy from that point forward. The last 20 minutes in particular were some of the most difficult to watch scenes in any movie this year. Disturbing, graphic, gory, psychotic…the price of fame is sometimes more than what you expect. Great performances, great special practical effects, and an excellent score make this one of the best surprises of the year. A treat from beginning to end.

Awesome, awesome, awesome

I’ll keep it short. This movie is great. Yeah, it’s “indie-horror” but it’s easily one of the best films I’ve seen in that space. The performance by the lead actress is incredible and if you love movies about women going crazy, she’ll win you over quickly. Watch it with your mom, she’ll love it too.

Phenomenal

STARRY EYES is dark, twisted, terrifying and amazing. Highly recommended for every human being on earth.
