Get ready for a “rock ‘n’ roll fable” unlike anything you’ve seen before in this sexy, gritty thriller starring Hollywood heavyhitters Willem Dafoe, Diane Lane, Amy Madigan, Michael Paré and Rick Moranis. When tempestuous singer Ellen Aim (Lane) is kidnapped by the vicious Raven Shaddock (Dafoe) and a ruthless gang of motorcycle thugs, it’s up to a handsome loner (Paré) to rescue her. With the assistance of a hard-as-nails woman warrior (Madigan) and manager Billy Fish (Moranis), he enters a shocking world of neon-lit streets, fast cars, and killer assassins lurking around every corner. Powered by an intense soundtrack, performed by such greats as The Fixx and The Blasters, this cult classic features songs written by Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty and Ry Cooder. It’s an all-out attack on the senses that you can’t afford to miss!
Those who have seen it remember it greatly. This is a rock an roll movie. All of it plays together. Sure it's a little bit campy, but what "rock drama" wasn't. Love this movie, an the soundtrack is great as it pieces all parts together perfectly. Love it.
Classic 80's movie. Thanks iTunes. It's about time!
Streets of Goofy Fun!
Listen--this is a GREAT soundtrack, but as a movie? It's just...goofy. I love the concept line I'd read about this, all rock and roll: 'The Leader of the Pack Kidnaps the Queen of the Hop and Soldier Boy comes home to save her'. It tries to keep this theme, but Moranis is completely miscast, E.G.Daly's character completely disappears, Amy Madigan can be...a little 'too', and they can never quite keep the spirit of the tagline alive. Of course, Willem Dafoe is creepy and terrific, the hammer fight is a cool, different thing, Bill Paxton strikes the perfect note of hillbilly innocent and courageous, and both Diane Lane and Michael Pare are perfectly cast. I wish it had been much better, but the story meanders and shifts gears too much to catch traction. Again, the music is great, and the numbers in the movie look pretty good. I cannot imagine this being made today.
