About the Movie

Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon star in this side splitting comedy. Tammy (McCarthy) is having a bad day. She's totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint, and instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It's time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she's broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Sarandon), is her only option-with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Tammy is an object lesson in the art of directing, which is all it would have taken to turn this near-miss into an instant classic. Though that may be true of most mediocre movies. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Jul 6, 2014

Rotten: It's a rambling, pointless and labored attempt to cash in on Ms. McCarthy's fan base without respect for any audience with a collective IQ of 10. And it's about as funny as a liver transplant. – Rex Reed, New York Observer, Jul 6, 2014

Rotten: The movie's principal intention is to make you laugh at a loser, and revel in scenes from which polite people would instinctively turn away. – John Anderson, Wall Street Journal, Jul 7, 2014

Rotten: Tammy is a wince-worthy missed opportunity – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Jul 6, 2014

Loved It!

Just saw TAMMY last night, and due to me being a HUGE Melissa McCarthy fan I wasn’t let down at all. The acting was great, the storyline was good…the only thing that made me stray away from the 5 Star Review was the way they built up the hype for this movie. The commercials and ads made it seem like *SPOILERS* robbing those fast food chains was the main point of the movie, when really, there was a heart-felt adventurous feel behind it. Don’t get me wrong, it was great, but they did the same with her other movie IDENTITY THIEF - which was also good. I love this film, and I’m glad I saw it, but it was more heartfelt than comedic, and had a few dry spots in the film, which is why I blame the commercials. But still, this is worth seeing for any McCarthy fan. Loved it!

Not funny at all very boring I wouldn't recommend it to anyone so save your money
