About the Movie
Considered among the best films of all time, Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver was nominated for Academy Awards® for Best Picture, Best Actor (Robert De Niro), Best Supporting Actress (Jodie Foster) and Best Original Score (Bernard Herrmann). Solitary, alienated, and emotionally scarred from Vietnam, taxi driver Travis Bickle (De Niro) works the night shift in Manhattan.Though the world around him is teeming with life, Travis is unable to connect with anyone. His date with Betsy (Cybill Shepherd), a beautiful campaign aide, fails when he takes her to a porno movie. He tries to save a 12-year-old prostitute, Iris (Foster), from her pimp, Sport (Harvey Keitel) - though it's unclear Iris wants to be saved. Travis's pent-up anger and misplaced loyalty finally boil over in a paroxysm of revenge and violence.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: You may want to argue with Taxi Driver at the end, and with good reason, but it won't be a waste of time.
Fresh: It's a powerful film and a terrific showcase for the versatility of star Robert De Niro.
Fresh: Like Werner Herzog's Aguirre or Coppola's Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver is auteurist psychodrama.
Fresh: Martin Scorsese's history-making scald is truly a phenomenon from another day and age. Which is to say, imagine a like-minded film of this decade killing at the box office and getting nommed for Best Picture.
A must watch for any generation
How can you not watch a Scorsese film over and over? One of the greatest movies of all time that will hold up forever. Not a moment that isn't full of brilliant acting by the entire cast.
God's lonely man.

The GOAT movie
I'm 19 years old, 19. This move is one of the GOAT movies of all time. It's so disturbing, stylistic, and dark it's hard not to be engaged when watching. De Niro definitely gives his best performance imo and who doesn't love the infamous, "You talkin' to me?" Honestly so original. An achievement in American filmmaking.
