Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It fails to provide any real scares and adheres to well-worn tropes without a fresh twist. – Kimber Myers, Los Angeles Times, Aug 31, 2017

Rotten: Temple comes off as more of a half-hearted attempt at exploiting typical J-horror themes than an actual homage to the Japanese genre. – Justin Lowe, Hollywood Reporter, Aug 31, 2017

Rotten: The movie gets lost in a thicket of horror-movie cliches. Heroes wandering off at just the wrong moment to empty their bladders. Too-dark scenes, lit entirely by bouncing flashlights. – Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger, Sep 1, 2017

Rotten: There is no monster at the end of this story, only boundless regret, and tedium. – Simon Abrams,, Sep 1, 2017

I'm not even sure what I just wasted an hour and so many minutes of my life on. Started off decent and never really goes anywhere. Not worth it. Save your money.

great idea...bad movie

The idea of a haunted temple is great - different, new, and unique. It is therefore most unfortunate that they completely screwed up everything else about the movie. It starts off exciting but rapidly goes downhill from there. The ending makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's like the writers just didn't even bother to care anymore once they realized they had a garbage script. The monster is not scary, just rediculous. All 3 of the main characters show an astonishing lack of judgement and make decisions so dumb throughout the film that no sane person would ever make.

You can go watch milk boil and feel more entertained.

This was by far one of the worst indie horror movies I've watched over the past several years. At the end of the movie, my friend and I were completely lost. If I had to see one more screenshot of that 32 year old woman with the fake lips and the huge breasts, I would have just turned off the television.
