About the Movie

Based loosely on the true events that inspired both the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and the Oscar-Winning "The Silence of the Lambs," the new film centers around a group of college kids on their way back from Mexico heading to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Dallas. Along the way they come into contact with the serial killer Leatherface who proceeds to try and kill them with his chainsaw. Starring Jessica Biel ("The Illusionist," "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry"), Jonathan Tucker ("The Ruins," "100 Girls"), Erica Leerhsen ("Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2," "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End"), and Mike Vogel ("Cloverfield," "Poseidon").

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: All the bad-rehash mojo from Friday the 13th to The Blair Witch Project has infected Scott Kosar's script. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Rotten: An initially promising, but quickly disappointing retread of Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel's hugely influential horror classic. – Scott Foundas, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: An overproduced, video-director remake, slick and grue-marinated and loud as a sonic boom. – Michael Atkinson, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: You realize how hard this is on me, to have to tell you what a superb job director Marcus Nispel has done re-creating, yet also revising, 1974's grisly, gristly, protein-centric masterpiece. – Stephen Hunter, Washington Post, Jul 16, 2008

Texas chainsaw massacre.

i live in texas, and i do believe that this movies is based on a true story, maybe not names or that group of teenagers, or anything about the whole town being canibals. but supposedly, leatherface was actualy put in a mental hospital around where i live. im not sure how true it is. the state hospital neither denies, or confirms it. as for the movie, it scared the s@#$ out of me. hahah
