About the Movie

In 1939, a worker has an abortion while working in a slaughterhouse and dies. The deformed baby is dumped in a garbage container and found by a beggar who brings him home. Along the years, the freak creature called Thomas is raised by the Hewitt family, working at a meat plant. In 1969, when the facility gets close down, deformed insane Thomas kills the foreman. His deranged stepfather executes the sheriff that is going to arrest Thomas, and assumes his identity and entitling himself as Sheriff Hoyt. Meanwhile, the brothers Eric (Matthew Bomer - "Flightplan") and Dean (Taylor Handley - "Zerophilia") are traveling in a Jeep with their girlfriends Christie (Jordana Brewster - "The Fast and the Furious") and Bailey (Diora Baird - "Wedding Crashers"). When the group has a car accident, Hoyt arrests Eric, Dean and Bailey and brings them to his house. Christie follows them trying to rescue the trio, trapped in the house of sadistic and insane cannibals, in a trip of horror and gore.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: This prequel to a remake of the 1974 horror movie begs the question: how many chainsaw massacres can one state possibly contain? – Nathan Lee, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: Attention sadists: Demand more from your gorefests than this pro forma return to the well. Has mass murder ever been this dull? – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Rotten: Apart from reviving the original Massacre's pervasive sense of Nixon-era malaise, it doesn't offer much in the way of satisfying origins. – Sam Adams, Los Angeles Times, Sep 20, 2007

Rotten: All you need to know about the character is he's really crazy and carries a chain saw. And he's got an even crazier uncle who all but steals the film. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Oct 28, 2006

Just ok

This movie wasnt the best but i kept u wanting to see it to the end. i think that the 2003 remake was way better then this one. in this movie there wasnt a lot of action like in the 2003 remake, it was all about the main girl traped in the house trying to find her freinds and i thought i was kinda boring at points. If i didnt like the cast so much i would have only given it 2 stars. so if i were u i would only rent this but you should buy the 2003 remake it was great!

Wow

That was better than the remake this movie scared the crap outta me!

One of the best!!!!

Wow, this movie is freakin' awesome! This is one that even scared me, but I really liked it. It has a chainsaw killer, a scary house of cannibals, meat factory, texas, what? Now that is some real horror, right there. This is complete terror, and it's what a true hardcore horror fan will want. It's based on a true story, the killing scenes were brutal, and the characters were awesome! I just love where this movie takes place, and how the story is put together is a masterpiece. I have to say, this was dark, but awesome. This movie makes you think, what if I was in that situation? Like I said, this is very dark, gory, and very intense. If your a horror fan, you should like this, unless you don't like slashers. This may not be for everybody, but it was very well done, I think. I also think this movie should of been longer, but that's ok. This is one that should really scare you. How it ended wasn't to good, and it could of been longer. The story was simple, and the scenes were great for a chainsaw movie. I think this movie should of had a little hope, but it was so well done. That's how a chainsaw movie should be, no comfort really, just very hardcore. I also can't wait to see the original and the second one!! This has to be one of the best well done slasher movies. After all, if you like slashers, you will probably like this.
