About the Movie
Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Josh Gad and Alecia "Pink" Moore shine in an unconventional romantic comedy that follows the topsy-turvy lives and loves of three obsessive characters: an overachieving environmental consultant (Ruffalo), a stubborn small-business owner (Robbins), and a wisecracking ER doctor (Gad). They meet in a support group and set into motion a life-changing journey.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: This feel-good look at a condition many refuse to acknowledge as a disease skips the self-pity and gets right to the heart of the issue: namely, the very real problems sex addicts have in creating interpersonal relationships.
Rotten: Be warned: viewers may experience a violent urge to shake the characters, one by one, and tell them to get a life.
Rotten: This comedy is cringe-inducingly lame and the dramatic turns are visible as far in advance as utility poles on the prairie.
Fresh: First-time director Blumberg does a fine job and makes some brave choices.
Pass on this before it is too late!
The characters are very unlikable here, and seems like most of the actors/actresses have seen better days. Where some of them where once able to carry a story this feels more like an indie with stars in name only. Too choppy...I guess I'm a bit old fashioned I actual like fluid story with PLENTY of real dialogue.
Not really a great movie but it wasn't too bad. Good job.
There haven't been many good movies out in the past year....either they are the wonderfully reviewed films that take themselves far too seriously and leave many wondering, "why was I supposed to love this so much?" or the big box office crap that's been coming out like the newest Hangover sequel. There have been only a handful of standout films like "Silver Linings Playbook" and while this film wasn't quite at THAT level, it was definitely well on its way. Maybe those who aren't friends of Bill won't have the same appreciation for the actors fine job in portraying this very well written and multi-layered film that was at the same time one of the best comedies I've seen in a long time but also did a fantastic job creating the constant tension...the pull, the danger that is modern life. The best addition to the script for me had to be the question of what IS normal and WHO is actually healthy? I thought the first 75% of the film was its strongest as having everyone struggle suddenly after such long periods of being the role model figures was a just a bit too heavy handed.
Overall enjoyable, funny (Ruffalo is always great and even better here given a chance to show a bit more range), and thought provoking. Not the best movie of the year, but absolutely worth watching.
