About the Movie

Love arrives with a splash when a handsome and eligible tycoon (Grant) and a beautiful working woman (Day) meet over a curbside mud puddle. He’s enchanted by her small town ways; she’s captivated by his romantic, debonair manner. But when it comes to marriage, they have decidedly different views – she wants it and he doesn’t! What ensues is a game of cat-and-mouse as each tries to win the other – with hilarious and heartwarming results.

No HD?

Such a fun movie but the SD is terrible. I know it’s available on Blu Ray so why not add it in HD from the start?

That Touch of Mink

Great period comedy!
Almost as good as Lover Come Back and Pillow Talk!
Doris and Cary are great together.
Love seeing the Automat. John Astin is especially great as the slimey Mr. Beasley!
I wish they had used Thelma Ritter in this like they did in many of Doris Day’s other films.
Sound is unremarkable but good.
The transfer is pretty good but a bit soft in areas. The colors are also somewhat faded as you would expect in an unrestored film from the sixties. At least its presented in the correct aspect ratio!
When an HD version becomes available, I'll re-purchase it.

1960's Values Rom Com

Plot of a small town, decent girl (Day) who will not give up her virtue before marriage, falling in love with a rich playboy (Grant), and comedy ensues. All of the side characters are great and the dialog is much more rich than your average Rom Com. Yes, the plot is "out of date" now, but its still fun to see Grant and Day together.
