About the Movie

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Piles up plotlines like an overbuilt house of cards that comes crashing down at the first well-earned guffaw of ridicule. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Oct 17, 2016

Rotten: The Accountant should be a straight-ahead thriller, but the film keeps tripping over its own incompetent feet. Maybe it was made for adults, but it sure doesn't feel like it was made by them. – Will Leitch, The New Republic, Oct 16, 2016

Fresh: Ben Affleck gets to play Will Hunting and Jason Bourne in this superhero origin story for adults ... Besides the incredible skills, we get a secret lair, double identities, even a shot of identical suits lined up in a closet like Batsuits. – CJ Johnson, ABC Radio (Australia), Nov 9, 2016

Fresh: A fantastically convoluted, over-extended but watchable action thriller whose many dangling loose ends, subplots and side characters are finally tied up with a showy flourish. – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian, Nov 3, 2016

Fantastic!

Ben Affleck shines in this tale about an autistic accountant who cooks the book for dangerous clientele all while trying to evade two treasury agents hot on his trail.

Amazing

I don't normally write reviews but this movie was awesome. Watched it this afternoon and came home to preorder, will probably go again tomorrow.

Definitely worth a watch!

Okay, just let me say for the record that I've personally had no faith in rotten tomatoes' review system. IMDb is where it's at. Now that that's out of the way, onto the film. For starts, Ben Affleck is great in this movie, and I really enjoyed his character in this film. I also enjoyed the side characters, and felt they held their weight in the film. The story itself I really liked, and found it to be interesting. Maybe it's just me, but this film held my attention from start to finish, and I truly feel you should give it a watch.
