Your Kidding to Rate this higher

I can't believe how boring this film was. The acting was very good and the characters believable. I just couldn't get into the plot or care much about the story. Sorry but it didn't work for me. Too bad.

A small indie with a big heart

I saw this at the Laemmle Theater in Pasadena recently. It's a warm and tender movie about the lives of a group of children as their mother/maternal figure dies of terminal illness. It starts off a little oppressively but then finds it's groove a few minutes into the film where the lives of Claudia and Martha (and Martha's aching, vibrant family) intersect. Although it has its comic moments, it is also unflinching in showing some of the suffering Martha endures. It makes her compassion, and the quiet pain of the children, stand out in stark relief.
