About the Movie

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Despite the efforts of Electro, the franchise is running shockingly low on juice. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, May 5, 2014

Rotten: How bad is this one ...? Amazingly so. Villainy abounds, but the villains are strident contrivances. Spider-Man flies, but does so dutifully, without joy. – Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal, May 1, 2014

Fresh: When Garfield conceals Peter's confused-angry- betrayed scowl beneath that shiny red mask, Spider-Man 2 summons the giddy derring-do of the best Iron Man offerings. It's a good movie that could have been great. – Robert Wilonsky, Dallas Morning News, May 1, 2014

Fresh: Overstuffed plot and too many villains, but the visual effects pop, and Garfield/Stone are still better than Maguire/Dunst. – Richard Roeper, Richard, May 1, 2014

I usually hate super hero movies, most of them I think our stupid, but I absolutely loved this one. Definitely worth seeing 💛💙💜💚❤️💗💓💕💖💞

Too Long!

Enough with the 90210 love interest with Parker and Stacey; I was getting cavities watching it. Jamie Foxx had no business being in this movie also, and his character sucked. I am sick of reboots. They actually killed it for me. I don’t or couldn’t care about the third Spidey incarnation. This is coming from a true Spidey fan. It’s done man.

Not Great. Just Terrible.

Probably the worst Spiderman movie made to date. And that is saying alot after Spiderman 3... Only part about this movie that was decent was the chemistry between Peter and Gwen. The villians were lackluster, boring and barely a backstory. The parts with Aunt May and Peters parents were unneeded, and could of been cut, the same goes with Rhino's 15 minutes of fame (literally). Should of taken note from from Spiderman 3, which is by far a superior movie to this one.
