Avengers Assemble!

"The Avengers" is easily one of the best films I've seen in the past few years. I saw it with my friends for the midnight premiere and it was a total blast from start to finish. Joss Whedon really pulled out all the stops when it came to directing a movie as big as this, and it shows. The entire ensemble cast was pitch-perfect, the action sequences were incredibly immersive and highly entertaining, and the dialogue was absolutely hilarious when it needed to be. I also loved the interactions between every one of the characters. Seeing them meet each other for the first time was both amazingly surreal and surprisingly realistic. Nearly everything from the score to the special effects to the comic timing just felt right, and I honestly can't applaud this film enough. "The Avengers" is quite simply an experience that everyone (and I really do mean everyone) should see. It just goes to show that Marvel is really stepping up their game, both commercially and creatively. Now if only the sequel would come sooner...

A TRULY INCREDIBLE MOVIE IN EVERY WAY!

What else can I say? It's not every day that you get to see a live-action film in which all your favorite comic book superheroes are fighting side by side together in one epic battle to save humanity. And man, was I blown away when I saw "The Avengers" for the first time in IMAX 3D. It not only met my expectations of what a superhero flick could accomplish, but it exceeded them by a mile. From the ever-expanding character development to the brilliant special effects to the larger-than-life set pieces, this film easily hit the nail on the head when it came to supreme summer blockbuster entertainment.

The plot is simple enough. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), director of the peacekeeping organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D., is forced to recruit an unprecedented team of superheroes (Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye) when Thor's villainous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) threatens to subjugate Earth. In order to pull the world back from the brink of disaster, these new allies must work together to defeat Loki and his gigantic army before it's too late.

Honestly, Joss Whedon couldn't have been a better choice to direct a movie of this caliber. With every scene, he masterfully balances the level of serious tension and light-hearted humor so as to keep the viewer's attention constantly at bay. Speaking of the humor, I can't tell you how many times I laughed along with the audience when it came to the incredibly clever gags. I won't say what they are for those who haven't seen the film, but let's just say that once you see them, they're way too funny to forget. In addition, the characters' interactions were spectacularly well-executed. Whedon truly made it so that each of their conversations felt fluent and real, almost as if you were actually right there, watching two complete polar opposites meet one another for the first time. I swear, seeing Tony Stark casually threaten Loki while pouring a drink was just the icing on the cake for me. As for the action, it literally had me on the edge of my seat. From the very beginning all the way to the thrilling finale, I was enthralled by the fun-filled violence and brilliantly choreographed combat sequences that the film delivered. Full of heart, humor and deftly intense energy, "The Avengers" ended up being nothing short of a satisfyingly super-powered masterpiece.

When all is said and done, it's easy to see why this movie has quickly become one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It's immaculately constructed, wonderfully paced and tremendously fun. What more can you ask for? In the end, I really can't think of any complaints to talk about. Whedon really did deliver everything I could've asked for and much more. From the hilariously surreal interactions between the ensemble cast to the superbly crafted score by Alan Silvestri, "The Avengers" truly lived up to every ounce of its hype. Personally, I can't wait to own this flick when it's released, and I can't recommend it enough. If you're a fan of well-crafted superhero blockbusters, this is one cinematic experience you shouldn't miss out on.

Could this be the BEST MOVIE EVER?!!!

I think this movie deserved all the hype, cuz it was certainly worth it. To answer your question, yes it is 2.5 hrs long, but it flies by. There is action from the very start and it never slows down. The acting is spot on and I believe Mark Ruffalo does a amazing job as Bruce Banner. He breathed new life into the hulk (after two previous and failed tries) and like all the other actors was very believeable. I also strongly urge you to see the other marvel movies leading up to this. Even though they do a great job of telling everyones back story in a short amount of time, the movies clear it up a little more. Long story very short: SEE IT! It is now one of my fav movies of all time. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! (~:
