Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Structured for an audience more familiar with MTV's Road Rules than with Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness.
Rotten: The Beach, designed to provoke audiences, stops for too many Hollywood moments to get the job done.
Rotten: Its narrative waters become rather muddy in the late going, and its currents finally don't run very deep.
Rotten: The Beach is beautiful, everyone has a lovely tan. But it's nothing to write home about.
I have been to the areas of Thailand this was filmed. True it is filled with foreign backpacker kids and if a secret island would exist this story is the perfect way one would find out about it. I stayed in the beach-side huts they filmed the scene with the stoners. Awesome and beautiful part of the world. Don't listen to the bad reviews picking apart the movie about stupid things, it is an entertaining movie about how paradise can be screwed up like the real world too. Give it a rent and enjoy
"The Beach" is entertaining and the exotic scenery is fantastic!! Love the soundtrack.
