About the Movie

Nothing equals The Birds for sheer terror when Alfred Hitchcock unleashes his foul friends in one of his most shocking and memorable masterpieces. As beautiful blonde Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) rolls into Bodega Bay in pursuit of eligible bachelor Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), she is inexplicably attacked by a seagull. Suddenly thousands of birds are flocking into town, preying on schoolchildren and residents in a terrifying series of attacks. Soon Mitch and Melanie are fighting for their lives against a deadly force that can't be explained and can't be stopped in one of Hollywood's most horrific films of nature gone berserk.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Mr. Hitchcock and his associates have constructed a horror film that should raise the hackles of the most courageous and put goose-pimples on the toughest hide. – Bosley Crowther, New York Times, Oct 14, 2014

Fresh: Hitchcock prolongs his prelude to horror for more than half the film, playing with audience suspense with comedy and romance while he sets his stage. The horror when it comes is a hair-raiser ... – James Powers, Hollywood Reporter, Mar 28, 2017

Fresh: Drawing from the relatively invisible literary talents of Daphne DuMaurier and Evan Hunter, Alfred Hitchcock has fashioned a major work of cinematic art, and "cinematic" is the operative term here, not "literary" or "sociological." – Andrew Sarris, Village Voice, Jan 18, 2013

Fresh: Hitch's much misappreciated follow-up to Psycho is arguably the greatest of all disaster films -- a triumph of special effects, as well as the fountainhead of what has become known as gross-out horror. – J. Hoberman, Village Voice, Jan 18, 2013

Shocking and very weird. \:-|

I'm, however, going to be a cinematographer and this is amazing, little creepy, but really this is Hollywood's very 1st kind of thriller with animals going BE-zurk, I wanna see this movie, I'm admiring the film makers including Hitchcock.

Creepy... BUT AWESOME!!!!!

This is truly Alfred Hitchcock's most terrifying film (and truly the creepiest of them all). All of it is set up to truly freak out the audience. The sounds, the dead bodies, the fact that we don't know why The Birds attach, and the ending. It is all so well done and is truly one of the major staples in horror history

You won't regret buying this!

Great movie. Tippi Hedren is amazing as Melanie Daniels. Very disturbing and frightening movie that leaves you with lots of questions at the end! Hitchcock at his best.
