About the Movie

The Boy is a frightening thrill ride directed by William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) and starring Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead). Greta (Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village. She soon discovers that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that they care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: [It] aims to set itself squarely in the fictional canon of Chucky and its brethren, but it ends up trying to do so much that it forgets to scare us. – Christian Holub, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 25, 2016

Rotten: Despite game efforts by the cast, this tepid horror opus is never scary enough to overcome its silly premise. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jan 21, 2016

Rotten: If only writer Stacey Menear and director William Brent Bell took the very real horrors of domestic abuse as seriously as they do the virtual horror of paranormal activity. – Martin Tsai, Los Angeles Times, Jan 22, 2016

Rotten: These movies need new toys to play with. – Mike McCahill, Guardian, Mar 18, 2016

Great Movie !

great movie love how they made the end such a plot twister great movie and (Maggie) from the walking dead Lauren Cohan was awesome in it !!! ♥️♥️

Not a horror movie

Horror movies are meant to be scary. This film tries to be creepy and suspenseful but comes off as awkward and goes for cliche dream sequences + jump scares. The plot is filled with holes, the characters aren't interesting. The movie treats domestic violence very superficially. I will say the acting is passable but that's not enough to save it

The worst idea for a movie I've ever seen in when you think it can't get worse it gets even worse. Take your money and throw in the trash, it would bring you more joy and entertainment
