About the Movie

One of the most popular horror classics of all time and an acclaimed sequel to the original Frankenstein. The legendary Boris Karloff reprises his role as the screen's most misunderstood monster who now longs for a mate of his own. Colin Clive is back as the overly ambitious Dr. Frankenstein, who creates the ill-fated bride (Elsa Lanchester). Directed by the original's James Whale (his last horror film) and featuring a haunting musical score, The Bride of Frankenstein ranks as one of the finest films not only of the genre, but for all time.

Fresh: Screenwriters Hurlbut & Balderston and Director James Whale have given it the macabre intensity proper to all good horror pieces, but have substituted a queer kind of mechanistic pathos for the sheer evil that was Frankenstein. – TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Karloff manages to invest the character with some subtleties of emotion that are surprisingly real and touching. – Variety Staff, Variety, Oct 14, 2014

Fresh: The Bride of Frankenstein has an in-your- face audacity that hasn't dimmed all that much after 63 years. – Bob Graham, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 4, 2007

The Bride of Frankenstein

Awesome!! This is one of the greatest horror movies of all time; a true classic! Good going itunes! I hope there are more of the classic Universal horror movies on the way.

You know how sometimes you hear something is a "classic" enough times that you eventually decide that half the people who called it that just did it because everyone else did? That's not the case with "The Bride of Frankenstein" at all. Everything about the film, from the acting to the score, from the script to the cinematography, earns every good thing anyone has ever said about it. This is a true, old school production in every sense. You don't have to see "Frankenstein" first, but they do go well together. Recommended: "Gods & Monsters," a fictionalized bio-pic of director James Whale.

Good oldfashion horror

This is one of the greatest horror movies of all time. I remember watching this movie as a kid and being scared and amused at the same time. Anybody over forty remembers the horror show "CREATURE FREATURES" knows what I'm talking about. The dialogue is undoubtably ground breaking for its time. They don't make 'um like this anymore. Great to have in your movie collection... for the younger generation.
