About the Movie

When British POWs build a vital railway bridge in enemy-occupied Burma, Allied commandos are assigned to destroy it in David Lean's epic World War II adventure THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI. Spectacularly produced, THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI captured the imagination of the public and won seven 1957 Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Alec Guinness), and Best Director. Even it's theme song, an old WWII whistling tune, the Colonel Bogey March, became a massive hit. THE BRIDGE ONTHE RIVER KWAI continues today as one of the most memorable cinematic experiences of all time.

The Bridge On The River Kwai

This WWII Movie is with out a doubt a #1 Favorite of mine. This POW war movie set in the 1940's is a giant in acting and place of movie producing. 1957 movie actors where real actors, movie stars by all accounts.

One of the very best ever

Way, way up there on my list of the best-crafted movies ever. Every part of it is at the highest level of excellence, as close to perfection as movies ever get. Guinness is amazing and leads a great cast. For all its great size and scope it's never boring, and never loses focus on the characters. Very few directors have made epics as well as Lean -- this and Lawrence of Arabia, holy cow. I've watched them both many times.

Great movie

If you don't like this movie, you are a communist.
