Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The elliptical structure of the narrative can't cover up its overheated, half-baked banality.
Rotten: The scenery (prettily captured by There Will Be Blood cinematographer Robert Elswit) is littered with heavy symbolism (fire! rain! dead birds!); the performances are merely heavy.
Rotten: The burning is mostly on the plain, not in this labyrinthine story.
Rotten: That fractured structure worked well for Arriaga in his scripts for other directors. Here the characters aren't compelling enough to ask viewers to give their brains a workout to determine exactly what's going on.
Very emotional film
This film exceeded my expectations re; story line and acting. It is not a ' Feel Good' film; be prepared for a film whose characters are emotionally troubled, and often times difficult to watch. Great acting! I would recomment this film.
A very well told story
A very emotional movie, extremly good story line. The acting was also fantastic. Not an easy story but absolutly worth while watching it. I can really recommend it.
