Jim Carrey is Chip Douglas, cable installer. Raised on television sitcoms, he wants life to look just like My Three Sons. And when he meets single guy Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick), he sees his chance for some serious male bonding. But Chip's idea of friendship - which includes physical assault, a game of 'Porno Password' and a medieval joust - may be hazardous to Steven's health. In Chip's own immortal words, "I can be your best friend... or your worst enemy." Directed by Ben Stiller (Reality Bites).

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Though this should have been an opportunity for Mr. Carrey to expand upon his runaway success and solidify long-term stardom, The Cable Guy instead offers the shocking sight of a volatile comic talent in free fall.
Rotten: Carrey runs riot, and Stiller won't stop him.
Fresh: It's a fairly interesting effort -- much more ambitious than most Carrey vehicles.
Fresh: As a follow up to hits Ace Ventura and The Mask, this black comedy curio bewildered Carrey's fans and failed at the box office. But its nervy sheen and strung-out comedy set pieces work well.
Hilarious! I cant believe nobody reviewed it!
A cult film to be remembered!
The Cable Guy is typically remembered as Jim Carrey's most failed feature film. But in all honesty, its gained recognition now as a cult favorite of his. The film lives in the same vein as The Crush except it's a guy coming after another guy. And definitely not in "that way". He's just a lonely needy guy who has no friends. In that respect, there's really never been anything like this ever before. And Jim Carrey's portrayal of a complete psychopathic nutcase who won't leave a complete stranger alone delivers laugh after laugh again and again. Do yourself a favor and take a look at this one. And while you're at it, be a fan of bad cinema and dark humor. That'll help.
I just wanna hang out, no big deal!
I love Jim Carrey's character in this movie. Not as good as some of his other films. I also like Matthew Broderick's character to. My favorite part of this movie is Steven's (Broderick) nightmare about the cable guy (Carrey) breaking into his house. If you buy it, you won't be disappointed.
