Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A catastrophe worth noting only for the presence of its name cast.
Rotten: Apes The Bourne Identity so slavishly yet so boringly it winds up with no identity at all.
Rotten: The script throws around phrases like "intel," "terrorist" and "rogue operative," but as time bombs go, the briefcase-versus-loved-ones ultimatum barely ticks.
Rotten: Charging $10 for this movie is criminal; vouchers and letters of apology should be handed out at the exit for those stalwart viewers who stick it out to the end.
A GENERIC, INCOHERENT MESS
Honestly, "The Cold Light of Day" was one of the biggest wastes of time I've ever spent watching a movie. Besides its generic title, the story literally goes nowhere, the action sequences are boring beyond belief, and every plot twist is entirely predictable. And don't be fooled by the big-name, all-star cast. Bruce Willis' character is killed off almost instantly, while Sigourney Weaver gives an embarrassing performance as the film's main villain. Not even Henry Cavill (next year's Superman) can save this pathetic excuse for an action-thriller from being the bland and incomprehensible mess that it is. For just this once, listen to the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. This flick is so bad, it isn't even worth renting.
Cold Light of Boredom
I was very disappointed: I could only watch this movie for about 15 minutes before I turned it off. My recommendation is don't spend your money (currently renting for $6.99) because the movie is subpar. That is--it is poorly made, it is predictable, and, it is really boring. However, the location where the movie was shot was beautiful--but that wasn't enough to save the movie. On the other hand, the preview is better than the actual movie. Additionally, the preview promises a good action flic but (unfortunately) the movie "doesn't deliver the goods." Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver have, once again, tarnished their acting credentials by participating in another "B" grade movie...so, at this point in time, that doesn't seem to be a positive trend for them. Perhaps, they don't always make good script judgments & choices? Also, the other actors appear to have (more or less) marginal acting skills; and, they never "get up to speed." This movie is a classic example of "you can't fake it" no matter how successful you've been in the past nor how much money you have to invest in a "pretty" debacle.
Waste of Money. I like Bruce Willis as a rule, but his role was small. Even if it was 1.99 it would be too much, but at 6.99 forget it. I'd like my money back.
Save your money.
