About the Movie

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. The Conjuring tells the horrifying true story of Ed and Lorraine Warren, world renowned paranormal investigators, who were called to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives. Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (The Departed) and Golden Globe nominee Patrick Wilson (Insidious) play the investigators while Golden Globe nominee Ron Livingston (Band of Brothers) and Emmy nominee Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under) play the Perron family plagued by sinister spirits in this dark chiller from the writers of The Reaping and the creator of the Saw films.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Wan ... builds the many bumps in the night into a small Hitchcockian symphony of terror by way of long, eerie tracking shots, dramatic silences, and sudden scares that are frighteningly immersive. – Bruce Diones, New Yorker, Jul 29, 2013

Fresh: The horror movie is artfully crafted from the first scares to the closing credits, with a bold retro vibe. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Jul 22, 2013

Fresh: In The Conjuring, the scary casts out the spirit of the silly, permanently, and with a vengeance. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Oct 7, 2013

Fresh: The Conjuring uses every stock scare in the horror movie playbook for a dumb, yet charmingly traditional haunted house picture that manages to feel more retro than rehashed. – Phil Brown, Globe and Mail, Oct 7, 2013

The Conjuring

The Conjuring was one of the best horror movies of 2013. It wasn't very scary but the story and the acting was phenominal. The Conjuring is about a family who moves into a new house and discovers evil spirits posses that house. After the family quickly realizes something is very wrong with their house they seek the help of husband and wife paranomal investigator's to hepl them rid the evil spirits that inhabit their new home. The Conjuring was a lot like The Exorcist. A good movie for horror movie lovers even though it's not 'jump out of your seat' scary.

Really Good

This is one of the best [movies] I've seen all year. I can't wait to watch it over and over and over again. Hopefully Vera gets an Oscar nomination.
