About the Movie

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. The Conjuring tells the horrifying true story of Ed and Lorraine Warren, world renowned paranormal investigators, who were called to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives. Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (The Departed) and Golden Globe nominee Patrick Wilson (Insidious) play the investigators while Golden Globe nominee Ron Livingston (Band of Brothers) and Emmy nominee Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under) play the Perron family plagued by sinister spirits in this dark chiller from the writers of The Reaping and the creator of the Saw films.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Wan ... builds the many bumps in the night into a small Hitchcockian symphony of terror by way of long, eerie tracking shots, dramatic silences, and sudden scares that are frighteningly immersive. – Bruce Diones, New Yorker, Jul 29, 2013

Fresh: The horror movie is artfully crafted from the first scares to the closing credits, with a bold retro vibe. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Jul 22, 2013

Fresh: In The Conjuring, the scary casts out the spirit of the silly, permanently, and with a vengeance. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Oct 7, 2013

Fresh: The Conjuring uses every stock scare in the horror movie playbook for a dumb, yet charmingly traditional haunted house picture that manages to feel more retro than rehashed. – Phil Brown, Globe and Mail, Oct 7, 2013

This Years Best Comedy Film

Wow, this has to be this years funniest movie, maybe the best comedy in the last ten years. A laugh out loud, sarcastic look at "Haunted House" movies, this film takes aim at every hackneyed cliche of the genre over the past forty years. Gnarly old trees, creaking doors that move on their own, spooky armoires and possessed dolls all are targets of film make..........what do you mean, it's not satire? No kidding. Huh. But I laughed so hard.....oh well, never mind. Seriously, NEVER MIND.

Great horror film

A great horror film. Watched with my family and we all enjoyed ^^. Not as scary as a lot that are out at the moment but is great for the 15 age rating it has. Don't skip out on it!

The Conjuring

I was so excited to rent this as I love 'scary' but am not a horror guy. This movie did not have one moment that was frightening and the characters were cheesy and seemed like they were from a comic strip. Don't waste your money! I had a long flight and I still almost turned it off as it was so lame.
