Plot Summary

In the tradition of The Ring comes this frightening psychological thriller. In an attempt to pull her family together, New Yorker Adele (Maria Bello) travels with her young daughter Sarah to Wales to visit her father- James (Sean Bean). The morning after they arrive, Sarah mysteriously vanishes in the ocean. While they desperately search for Sarah, a guilt-ridden Adele is haunted by visions of her daughter as though Sarah is trapped somewhere inside the house. Adele soon learns of an ancient local legend of a place called The Dark- an ethereal land of the dead- and she becomes convinced that Sarah is communicating to her from The Dark. Not long after Sarah disappears, Adele and James find themselves involved with a little girl who not only bears a striking resemblance to their missing daughter, but reveals that she has retuned from the dead to show them that in order to get Sarah back, they must follow the rule: "one of the living, for one of the dead." Based on the novel "Sheep", by Simon Maginn.

Customer Reviews

Worst Horror/Thriller Ever!

I thought I'd have sympathy for the family but I was wrong. I hate all the characters, the girl especially because she is so unwilling to connect with her mother; the father because he's so stubborn that he's unwilling to listen to a mother's intuition; and the ghost girl for obvious reasons. The plot was aweful, the ending was disappointing and unfair, and I was hardly scared. I saw this for free on tv and I still feel like I got robbed!

Slow and poorly cast

The twists were good but the lead actress was cardboard and the little boy relied on that wide-eyed frozen stare that he used in Knowing way too much. Neeson was bland and not scary at all. Wow who taught Justin Long to cry? That was good.
What is with the name?

This has a similar tone to the ring, but the Ring circled around a video tape...This was much different, in my opinion...And Maria Bello is quite a talented actress...Creepy Thriller
