In the stark aftermath of a neurological pandemic, two strangers come together on an isolated Scottish farm. April, a 16 year old survivor with a dark past, has survived alone for months. Daniel, a man bereaved, clings desperately on to hope of life in the outside world. Questioning his own sanity in the face of the maddened and distant cries of the suffering, he finds that the true enemy isn't the virus, but something much closer to home.
Wanted to really like it
The first thing that you'll notice is that the vibe (camera work, score, long pensive moments of nothing much going on) resembles Danny Boyle's 28 ___ Later franchise. Maybe this is a regional style that I'm just now becoming aware of. I'm impressed that this was low budget and shot in a short period. The acting is very good for what it is. The sound really needed more work to appeal to a non-Scottish audience. With the muffled dialog and accents, it was pretty hard to figure out what they were saying at times. The ending completely befuddled me as did the semi-frequent flashbacks. Not that it was trying to be too clever or push the boundaries of creativity. It was just shot so that I honestly couldn't tell what the hell was going on. Look at IMDB to get more but if you're a zombie movie fan, it's worth a rental if only to enjoy better crafted zombie movies. It's like there's a better movie that I should have experienced in there somewhere, but it was just muddled into I'm not sure what. It pains me to say that as it has the feel of a work of love, but the execution just isn't there. Sorry Ms. Mullaney, but please continue. There's obvious talent in you.
Not What I Thought Worth Watching
It was an odd take on the zombie genre. It was not what I expected which made it good. At first I did not think I was going to like it because of some initial bad lines and their heavy accent but it got better and is worth watching.
insult to the word zombie!!
I would gladly take my own life and become a zombie rather to watch this lame horrid movie again.
I seriously saw maybe 10 zombies? 15 perhaps. Im a fan of the whole shaky/weird camera thing (28 days later) but they just couldn't pull it off, it did nothing but make the movie even harder to watch.
Boring lame movie that doesn't make any sense toward the end sums this movie up pretty well.
