About the Movie
Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg star in Martin Scorsese's new crime drama "The Departed." "The Departed" is set in South Boston where the state police force is waging an all-out war to take down the city's top organized crime ring. The key is to end the reign of powerful mob boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) from the inside. A young rookie, Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate Costello's mob. While Billy is working to gain Costello's trust, another young cop, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) is among a handful of elite officers whose mission is to bring Costello down. But what his superiors don't know is that Colin is working for Costello, keeping the crime-boss one step ahead of the police. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operation he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the gangsters and the police that they have a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin find themselves in constant danger of being caught and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.

Fresh: [A] very entertaining, densely layered, just-short-of-fabulous melodrama.
Fresh: This crime thriller is a profane, blood-drenched joy to watch.
Fresh: What makes this a Scorsese film, and not merely a retread, is the director's use of actors, locations and energy, and its buried theme. I am fond of saying that a movie is not about what it's about; it's about how it's about it.
Fresh: [A] glorious mess of a movie.
This is seriously one of the best movies I've ever seen and I can"t even buy it?! Seriously now itunes...I mean come on...
One of my favorites...
First of all, a note to "halfjapwithpapers": I'm almost 14 (in a few days!) and this is in my top ten list of favorite movies. "Practical Magic" was not , and I thought it was frivolous and silly, but whatever. Besides, if a guy bases his need to ask me to another date based on me liking "Practical Magic" (which I don't, but I'm being hypothetical) then he's not really a guy I want to go out with. Anyway, this a film that I love the more I watch it and certainly the more I think about it's meaning and the film itself. Sure, it's a little gory and Jack Nicholson is a little pervy (but that's why I love him!), but it's a film that's not worth missing. The script in itself was a spectacle, but the superb acting by DiCaprio, Damon (I wasn't even really a fan before this), Wahlberg, and of course Nicholson made it even better. And did I mention that this has secured Martin Scorsese (sp?) as my favorite director? This is a film that is riveting and keeps you guessing until the very end, while showcasing incredible character development until you get there. But seriously, iTunes... don't deny me the priviledge of being able to buy it.
Warner Bros...PLEASE allow us to buy this movie!! And keep it up to rent too for those who have not seen this awesome movie!
