Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Unfortunately, and despite its promising start, "The Dressmaker" doesn't move much beyond the level of well-costumed playacting. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Sep 22, 2016

Rotten: Kate Winslet can do anything ... except save this movie from quirky overkill. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Sep 23, 2016

Fresh: It might not all flow, but between Winslet and castmate Judy Davis's various spitfire moments and some potent dark turns, there's a fair amount to like. – Tom Russo, Boston Globe, Sep 22, 2016

Fresh: There's plenty to admire here, especially if your taste is tailored to the unusual. – Adam Graham, Detroit News, Sep 30, 2016

It's rare I write a review, but I loved this movie so much I had to say so here. Kate Winslet was stunning in the role! I expect to see this film nominated for more than a few awards.

I watched about 30 minutes of this movie... then just stopped with it.
Quality of performance and story were disappointing.
Not a good choice.

Revenge is a dish best served...

...on scorched earth by a scorned woman. I just gotta say, I adored this movie. Rotten Tomatoes are rotten for their rating of this film.

Although the plot is predictable, the acting is so delicious that morsels of surprise are sprinkled throughout like exotic spices. A small amount gives way to a burst of flavor.

Kate Winslet made a man of Liam Hemsworth. His confidence exuded like a controlled heat from a sip of Gran Patron Burdeos. BONZER PANACHE, Liam!

I enjoyed this movie.
