In the bohemian underground of World War II London, a stirring love story ignites among legendary poet Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys, TV's Brothers and Sisters) and the two extraordinary women who inspire him. Sienna Miller (Casanova) is Caitlin, Thomas' free-spirited wife, while Keira Knightley (Atonement) is Vera, the long-lost teenage sweetheart who later reconnects with Thomas. Despite their romantic rivalry, the two women form a surprisingly close bond. The trio is unusually blissful until Vera's husband, a handsome soldier (Cillian Murphy, Girl with a Pearl Earring), sends their uninhibited lives spiraling out of control.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The Edge of Love has, as they say, all the tools, all the elements that usually make for success. It ought to be coaxing superlatives from all and sundry, but instead it leaves a bitter, unsatisfying aftertaste that lingers in the mind.
Rotten: Occasionally, Angelo Badalamenti's fine score will pleasantly remind you of Mulholland Drive. Knightley and Miller's pseudo-sapphic tub-splashing will not.
Rotten: The Edge of Love holds a lot of promise in its first hour and never completely falls apart, but it's ultimately not the movie it might have been.
Rotten: This may be Knightley's first truly mature performance. Too bad it arrives wrapped in doggerel.
achingly, poignantly beautiful
if you want a shallow romantic comedy, don't come looking here. this intensely character driven film, in which the two leading ladies absolutely shine, is a deep and dark exploration into the shadowy crusts of human relationships. through war, poverty, addiction, paranoia, friendship, abuse, obsession and betrayal, we are taught that some loves stay, some do not, and that the journey to find what matters most in our lives can be an achingly, poignantly beautiful road.
Beautiful. This is an absolutely beautiful, very well done movie. beautiful camera work, writing, acting, and music, and a great story that wonderfully depicts the time period make The Edge of Love a truly fantastic movie.
My favorite movie
I usually can't say which movie is my favorite, this movie changed that. I have watched it multiple times from start to finish. I love Dylan Thomas' poetry first of all. Keira Knightly is amazing in this. She is certainly suited for period films like this. Sienna Miller also shines in The Edge of Love. It is a nice look at life during Word War Two. It is not really a war movie, but shows the black fog that war casts over society. When you finish watching it, you'll want to start it all over again! It has great progression. (Though the characters make you wish it was much longer!) I've recommended it to all of my friends!
