About the Movie
Rey Ciso (Adam Brooks) was once the greatest editor the world had ever seen. Since a horrific accident left him with four wooden fingers on his right hand, he's had to resort to cutting pulp films and trash pictures. When the lead actors from the film he's been editing turn up murdered at the studio, Rey is fingered as the number one suspect. The bodies continue to pile up in this absurdist giallo-thriller as Rey struggles to prove his innocence and learn the sinister truth lurking behind the scenes. Functioning as a straight-up send-up of Dario Argento, Mario Bava and the cinematic sorcerers of '70s slasher films, Canadian horror comedy The Editor is a charming tribute to the unsung classics of giallo, an Italian subgenre known for its gory and gruesome erotic horror.

Rotten: Even those who get the joke here may find it wearing thin after a while.
Fresh: a knowing pastiche of the giallo genre, so incoherent and ridiculous it could almost pass for the genuine article... felt at times overstretched and perhaps could have done after all with the touch of "the world's greatest editor".
The best movie of 2015.
Buy this movie (you'll regret renting it and will have wished you bought it).
To fans of Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, Mario Bava, etc...The Editor plays much like a "best of"—the lighting (the colors spilling over the set and the actors is a work of art in and of itself and will certainly please diehard fans of Suspiria), the onscreen violence (practical fx!), the beautiful (and often nude) women, the late 70s/early 80s look and feel of everything (so much attention to detail), the musical score (!!), the (intentionally) poorly dubbed English...it's all there, and it's all incredibly accurate. The Editor is also funny...though, unlike most modern horror/comedies, the humor isn't distracting and doesn't dumb down the tone of the movie.
I'm an admittedly fussy horror fan, and this movie literally played off like a checklist of all the things I want in a horror flick.
Thank you, Astron-6...and please keep making movies like this!!
