About the Movie

Visually minded filmmaker Tarsem Singh returns to the director's chair for the first time since The Cell (2000) with this psychologically complex tale of a hospitalized paraplegic with a curious knack for storytelling. Unable to free himself from his sterile confines, the immobile patient's deepest fears form the basis of a dark story that he shares with his young companion — a little girl who visits his room as she recovers from a nasty fall. As the eerie tale unfolds, reality and fantasy gradually merge to form a strange world in which anything is possible.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: An achingly beautiful movie and a triumph of location scouting, with more cosmopolitan spectacle than the past three Indiana Jones and James Bond movies combined. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Oct 18, 2008

Rotten: Sometimes, looking good isn't enough. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Oct 18, 2008

Fresh: The girl and the hospital patients and staff also turn up in his improvised adventure, extravagantly garbed by costume designer Eiko Ishioka. – Bill Stamets, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: That's the trouble with candy, the eye kind or the tooth-decaying variety. It's only after you've made a glutton of yourself that you realize you haven't devoured anything particularly filling. – Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel, May 13, 2009

Fallen in Love

Hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life!! Lee Pace is does and excellent job portraying the semi-paralyzed stunt man Roy in this beautiful and vibrant movie. The costumes are gorgeous, the cinematography is breathtaking and it will have you hooked until the end. Powerful but whimsical, the score ads a certain dream-like feel to the movie without being too distracting. You would be insane not to buy it.

This movie is a brilliant piece of cinematography with some amazing acting as well. Director, Tarsem, is one of a kind that will continue to amaze people. See The Fall!
