A plot of earth in rural Ireland, The Field is rented and lovingly cultivated by "Bull" McCabe (Harris). When its legal owner suddenly decides to sell the land, a wealthy American (Tom Berenger) appears with plans to develop the area. To Bull, covering land with concrete is a mortal sin. To the villagers, an outsider owning Bull's field is an outrage that McCabe vows to prevent at any cost. Costarring John Hurt, The Field is a compelling story of one man's determined battle to resist change and defend his heritage.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The Field is a movie that all too often reveals its origins as a play.
Rotten: As overwrought as [My Left Foot] was understated.
Great film - Why has Tom Berringer not been this good since?
The setting is painfully beautiful and Richard Harris is excellent for his fusty unlikable characterization. It's a bit sad though to see this and wonder why Tom Berringer hasn't been this good since. He was great in Platoon and Major League, why not since?
