About the Movie
A look at the inner workings of the Obama administration as they prepare to establish a legacy when leaving power after eight years. The film revolves around Obama’s foreign policy team: Secretary of State John Kerry, U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power, Deputy National Security Adviser and presidential confidant Ben Rhodes, as well as National Security Adviser Susan Rice and President Obama himself. Over the course of 2016, they travel the world attempting to solidify and “lock-in” policies that they believe will define their legacy, promote diplomacy over large-scale military action, and fundamentally alter how the U.S. government confronts questions of war and peace, as they prepare to hand over the machinery of American power to a new administration.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: For much of its first hour, this movie is tepid and self-congratulatory, a quick-cutting advertisement for itself.
Fresh: What chills most about this doc is how unprepared Team Obama was for the victory of Team Trump and the ease with which many of its hard-won policies could be unraveled. Welcome to our new national nightmare.
Fresh: [An] engaging and resolutely un-dishy travelogue ...
Fresh: For its target audience, The Final Year can't help but have a melancholy feel, any more than it can be separated from the prism of politics. But it's worth seeing, if only to gain greater appreciation for the nature of these jobs and their highs and lows.
Worst president ever
It’s a must not watch
It was an excellent chronicle of some of the events, mainly foreign policy events, of the last year of the Obama administration, with a heartbreaking end, that we all are way too familiar with and continue to experience.
Like a real life west wing
Fascinating portrayal of the inner workings of the obama presidency.
