About the Movie

Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Past, present, future. Through time and space, one man embarks on a bold 1000-year odyssey to defeat humankind's most indomitable foe: Death. Hugh Jackman plays that man, devoted to one woman (Rachel Weisz) and determined to protect her from forces that threaten her existence. His quest leads him to a Tree of Life...and to an adventure into eternity. Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream) directs, continuing his string of imaginative, involving filmmaking with a tale alive with ideas and filled with astonishing vistas. "Not many films can blow your mind and break your heart at the same time, but this one will" (Drew McWeeny, Ain't It Cool News).

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The movie may have significant truths to impart, although I have my doubts, but it feels too inexperienced, too unworldly, to have earned the right to them. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Nov 28, 2006

Rotten: Mr. Aronofsky's outlook on life remains too constantly pessimistic for my taste, and too completely joyless as well. – Andrew Sarris, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Bonkers, adventurous, silly, ambitious, charming, foolish; it's all those things and it'll be gone in a week. But it's not mainstream Bore-o fare, and for that it should be celebrated. – Mark Kermode, BBC Radio Five Live, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: If only all reputed turkeys gave us such a trip. – Tim Robey, Daily Telegraph (UK), Jun 24, 2010

for most this film might be over there heads..its a deep film with tons of metaphors and very intresting dialogue, this is not a hugh jackman film where hes kicking a*s,this is acting from a good cast and tight director,,,plus a great soundtrack.

Excellent

Excellent movie. So much is said in this movie beyond the spoken words but in the imagery. You have to pay attention to this movie to get it and then think about it some more after you've watched it. That's the beauty of this movie. It hangs with you...
