About the Movie
The Glamour & The Squalor is the inspiring true story of Marco Collins, one of America's last great DJs. While battling his personal demons, Collins popularized the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Beck, and changed our culture forever.
Insightful view into the man who changed the music scene forever
The Glamour & The Squalor is a fascinating documentary on the life of Marco Collins. If you were lucky enough to grow up in Seattle in the 90s, then you most likely spent your days listening to 107.7 THE END. If you didn't then you probably heard the music that was discovered solely because of the talent of Marco Collins and his ability to break new bands. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice and Chains, the list goes on and on. It is rare that you find a documentary that keeps you rooting for the star, wanting to see him win his battle with addiction. I applaud his ability to delve into emotional topics and relive moments in his painful past. Seattle and the music scene owe a great debt of gratitude for what Marco brought to this city. He literally put it and a whole new revolution in music on the map.
One of the best documentaries Ive seen in a long time
I very rarely write reviews for things but had to take a moment for this movie. I saw The Glamour & The Squalor at a film festival last year and had to watch it again when I saw it on iTunes. Actually voted it as one of my favorite films of the festival and it was even better the second time around. If you like great character studies about brilliant but damaged people and/or like great music do yourself a favor and watch this movie!
A riveting look at the life of the man who helped break grunge music into the mainstream. This doc is a must watch for its powerfully honest look at the highs and lows that come with being known for creating a revolution in music. Beautifully shot and an amazing story!
