About the Movie
Oscar-winning producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer team up with the producer of The Blind Side in this uplifting true story that follows a young refugee of the Sudanese Civil War who relocates to the United States with three other "lost boys." Encountering the modern world for the first time, they develop an unlikely friendship with a brash American woman (Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon) assigned to help them. But the young man not only struggles with his new life, but also with feelings of guilt about the family that he left behind in war-torn Africa.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: "The Good Lie" may be a little too soft. But it largely avoids mawkish sentimentality and casts a glow that is increasingly absent nowadays from films depicting international strife.
Fresh: It's often earnest to a fault and fearful of its deeper, darker implications. Still, you won't leave The Good Lie unmoved. Its heart really is in the right place,
Fresh: If a moviegoer can't cry for the great tragedy of these Sudanese children, and be touched by their small victories, then who on earth deserves our tears and cheers?
Fresh: The political becomes personal, eye-opening and moving in The Good Lie.
It is so not what you expect, its so good, so refreshing to se Witherspoon like this. Its another side that people who live in america don’t know, its sensitizes people as you are watching the movie. It is just great, and it brings forth a great message.
Just watch it.
Particularly if you wasted the one week this was out in theaters seeing Gone Girl, please see this. You will not be sorry. It will break you and hearten you.
The fact that these actors are former child soldiers in real life makes the movie even better. This movie will open your eyes to a new world, the world many experience and many Americans are naive to. This movie will make you want to hold your loved ones close and not take the little things for granted.
