About the Movie

A young singer turns his back on God and his father's church when tragedy strikes. He returns years later to find the once-powerful congregation in disarray. Set in the world of the African-American church and gospel music from director Rob Hardy (Trois, Trois 2: Pandora's Box), The Gospel features an all-star cast including Boris Kodjoe (Love and Basketball), Omar Gooding (Baby Boy), Nona Gaye (The Matrix Reloaded), Clifton Powell (Ray), Tamyra Gray (TV's "American Idol" star) and Keshia Knight Pulliam (TV's "The Cosby Show") and the hottest names in gospel with Grammy Award® winners Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, and Hezekiah Walker among many more!

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Endeavors to be a powerful tale of faith and forgiveness, but in the end fails to capture even the slightest essence of spirituality and religious belief, or to provide any real insight into its characters' conflicts, desires and motivations. – Laura Kern, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: The soapy, cliche-ridden script aside, the picture is a technical mess of awkward framing and choppy editing that puts a dispiriting damper on all that uplifting music. – Michael Rechtshaffen, Hollywood Reporter, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A heartfelt but muddled melodrama. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

Rotten: A sermon writ as large as a multiplex movie screen. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

Inspirational movie

This movie shares a great message of hope and redemption.

Loved the music and it's a nice movie to see with the whole family

Re-watched several times

This was a good movie - a very good movie. The music is great..

It isnt a high priced Hollywood movie.. looking at the "Rotten" reviews from the Liberal Media - it is not surprising... They wouldn't like the movie no matter what- just because it is a Christian Based, themed movie.. No Gay marriage, no sex, violence, no perversion, no cursing, fowl language.. So yep the Liberal news media would hate it.

BUT - it is a very good movie..
