About the Movie

Based on Wes Craven's 1977 suspenseful cult classic, The Hills Have Eyes is the story of a family road trip that goes terrifyingly awry when the travelers become stranded in a government atomic zone. Miles from nowhere, the Carter family soon realizes the seemingly uninhabited wasteland is actually the breeding ground of a blood-thirsty mutant family...and they are the prey.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: There is a strange lack of tension and no real jolts of fear in this remake of the 1977 Wes Craven film. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Like the Chainsaw rehash, Eyes borrows its title and narrative from a memorably grungy '70s artifact and then proceeds to hammer each new atrocity into your skull with a quarter of the skill and 10 times the blatancy of the original. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: ... a blast. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: From complete dismemberment to extreme shotgun violence, Aja & Co. not only pull out the stops on this one, they decimate them. – Erin Meister, Boston Globe, Jun 24, 2010

ONE OF THE GREATEST HORROR MOVIES EVER MADE

I have never seen a horror movie get to an audience like The Hills Have Eyes. Alex Aja (who did the brilliant High Tension) took a terrible film (even for its time) and made a terrifying, disturbing, and absolutely flawless horror film!! AMAZING!!

OFFENSIVE

THIS MOVIE WAS SO EXTREMELY DISTURBING AND DISGUSTING I HAD TO SKIP THROUGH HALF OF IT. IT IS OFFENSIVE AND VULGAR. I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE TO ANY HUMAN PERSON. I HOPE THAT PEOPLE WILL READ THIS COMMENT AND MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION TO NOT TORTURE THEMSELVES AND WHOEVER IS AROUND THEM.

good luck.

how can this film be rated so highly?

Aja seems to be quite adept at creating repulsive, perverted characters and images, but that does not constitute a scary film. This film is a waste of time. How much acting talent do you need to scream and cry (or in the case of the mutants, growl and bellow)? There are good actors in this film but THIS does not showcase ANY talent, from anyone involved.
